Fire Restrictions

Current fire restriction levels and prohibited activities in Jefferson County.

🔥 STAGE 2 FIRE BAN — CURRENTLY IN EFFECT

Unincorporated Jefferson County is under a Stage 2 Fire Ban due to dangerous fire conditions.

Stage 2 Fire Ban — Prohibited Activities

  • All open burning, including campfires, fire pits, and bonfires
  • Charcoal grills (gas grills with shut-off valves are permitted)
  • Fireworks of any kind
  • Smoking except in enclosed vehicles or buildings
  • Use of any equipment that may produce sparks or flames outdoors
  • Target shooting with tracer or incendiary ammunition

Penalties

Violations of fire restrictions are a Class 2 Misdemeanor and may result in fines up to $1,000 and/or up to 90 days in jail. If a fire results from a violation, the responsible party may be liable for suppression costs.
